Awakenings: Art in Society in Asia 1960s-1990s examines the powerful role that artists across Asia played during on of the region's most turbulent periods. This tea is inspired by Rematerialisation, a theme from the exhibition.
A rarity today, condensed milk canisters are recycled and used to hold takeaway coffee in the Kopitiams in Singapore. The use of cement takes cue from another exhibition theme–Agitating Urban Life, immortalising a dying trait that was once common in the day to day lives of Singaporeans.
Tea canister is handcrafted by local design studio, Orbjek coupled with 'Renowned Unknown Fragrance' tea, a locally-blended traditional tea by Pek Sin Choon, one of the oldest tea houses in Singapore.
